Dakota Mermis spent four years with the Wild where he played in 54 games.

October 10th marks the first game of the season for the Minnesota Wild which also is the home opener. Just 57 days away from Wild hockey. Only one player in Wild history has worn number 57 and that was Dakota Mermis.

Mermis, 30, was a free agent signing by the Wild in 2020. He went on to spend four years in the Wild's organization. He was mainly in Iowa with the Wild's AHL team the Iowa Wild.

The 6-foot defender played in 127 games for the Iowa Wild across three seasons. He recorded eight goals, 44 assists, and 52 points and also served as Iowa's captain during the 2023-24 season.

He recorded two assists in five games for Iowa last season and played in 47 NHL games for the Wild. In his 47 games, Mermis recorded three goals, five assists, and eight points.

Mermis has played in 74 career NHL games and has recorded four goals, eight assists, and 12 points across seven NHL seasons with three different teams.

The Wild did not re-sign Mermis which led him to signing a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
