The defenseman played five career NHL games.

October 10th marks the first game of the season for the Minnesota Wild which also is the home opener. Just 61 days away from Wild hockey. Only one player in Wild history has worn number 61 and it was Brennan Menell.

Menell, 26, played five career NHL games before he left for the KHL in 2020. All five came with the Wild in 2019-20.

The Minnesota native went undrafted and was signed by the Wild after he recorded 12 goals, 59 assists, and 71 points in 70 WHL games for the Lethbridge Hurricanes in 2016-17.

His first season in the AHL with the Iowa Wild, Menell recorded eight goals, 17 assists, and 25 points in 72 games. The following season Menell recorded two goals, 42 assists, and 44 points in 70 AHL games.

After a fast start in the AHL the following season Menell was recalled by the Wild to play in the NHL. He had five goals, 42 assists, and 47 points in 57 AHL games and recorded zero points in five NHL games.

The following season Menell decided to go to the KHL where he would go on to record five goals, 33 assists, and 38 points in 47 games and was later traded by the Wild to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a conditional pick in 2022 NHL Draft.

He played 20 games with the Maple Leafs AHL team and recorded one goal and five points. Toronto then traded him to Philadelphia for nothing. He recorded six points in 18 AHL games for Lehigh Valley and has been in the KHL for the last two seasons, soon to be three.

Menell was an AHL All-Star with Iowa and recorded 15 goals, 101 assists, and 116 points in 199 games with Iowa but he could never reach the next step. He has 15 goals, 92 assists, and 107 points in 157 KHL games.
