Tyler Cuma played one NHL game in his career.
October 10th marks the first game of the season for the Minnesota Wild which also is the home opener. Only one player in Wild history has worn number 65 and that was Tyler Cuma.
Cuma, 34, was a first-round pick in 2008 by the Wild. He was picked ahead of guys like John Carlson, Roman Josi, Tyler Ennis, Jacob Markstrom, and Justin Schultz.
The 6-foot-2 defenseman played four years in the AHL with the Wild and recorded only two goals and 33 points in 201 career games. He played in one NHL game as well and has been playing overseas ever since.
He is under contract and will be playing in the AlpsHL with EK Zell am See in Austria for the 2024-25 season. He may go down as one of the worst picks by the Wild considering the defensemen who were taken after Cuma like Josi, Carlson, and Schultz.
