Carson Lambos and the seven other Minnesota Wild players placed on waivers yesterday have cleared and will report to the AHL's Iowa Wild.
Yesterday, the Minnesota Wild placed eight players on waivers with the purpose of being assigned to the Iowa Wild of the AHL.
Those eight players included 2021 first-round pick Carson Lambos, as well as Matt Kierstad, Roman Schmidt, Caedan Bankier, Dylan Gambrell, Justin Kirkland, Tyler Pitlick and Mason Shaw.
The Wild are glad Lambos cleared waivers, as they still hope he can contribute this season or in the future. Lambos' entry-level contract expired at the end of the 2025-26 season, and he signed a one-year, two-way contract paying him $850,000.
Lambos won't become a UFA until 2030, which gives the Wild plenty of control. If Lambos improves on his 2025-26 season, which saw him post eight goals and 19 points in 70 games, the 24-year-old could earn a call-up during the season and possibly lock down an NHL role.
For now, he appears to have lost the roster battle to David Spacek, who remains with the NHL club.
In addition to Lambos, defensemen Kierstad and Schmidt have cleared waivers and will play big roles on Iowa's blueline.
Up front, Bankier, Gambrell, Kirkland, Pitlick and Shaw have all cleared, providing depth for the AHL team. Bankier enters his fourth AHL season, looking to beat his career high of 13 goals and 26 points. Pilick, Shaw, Gambrell, and Kirkland will all provide veteran leadership and vital experience.
