The NHL had a big signing on Thursday, as Patrick Kane reunited with the Chicago Blackhawks on a two-year, $8 million AAV contract. With this signing, a former Minnesota Wild forward is now the best UFA still on the market: Vladimir Tarasenko. 

Now that Kane has been signed, it would not be surprising if Tarasenko's market heats up. The 34-year-old forward showed last season with Minnesota that he can still be a solid middle-six forward, evidenced by his 23 goals and 47 points in 75 games. 

Teams looking for more offensive production should consider taking a flier on Tarasenko because of it. Even if he is no longer the star he was during his prime, he could still be a good pickup for a team needing more secondary scoring. 

Tarasenko is also a two-time Stanley Cup winner, which undoubtedly adds to his appeal. This could help him grab the attention of some contenders, especially if he is willing to take a bit of a paycut at this point in the off-season. 

It will be interesting to see where Tarasenko ends up signing this summer. Teams looking for more scoring and experience should have the veteran forward on their radar now that he is the NHL's top UFA. 

In 906 career NHL games over 14 seasons split between the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings, and Wild, Tarasenko has posted 327 goals, 382 assists, and 709 points.
