Last season in his 59th game of the year, Mason Shaw suffered his fourth ACL tear of his career. The Wild later signed him to a one-year AHL contract for the 2023-24 season.
Shaw, 25, will now return to the lineup tonight for the first time in nine months after he suffered his fourth ACL tear in a game in Vegas last year on April 1st.
If things go well and Shaw looks like he did before his ACL tear, the Wild could sign him to an NHL contract and recall him from the AHL. They would have to do that before the NHL trade deadline which is March 8th.
In 59 games last season in the NHL, Shaw posted seven goals and 17 points while providing the Wild with energy and physicality in every game he played in. In his career, Shaw has played 62 NHL games and 188 AHL games where he has recorded 39 goals and 114 points for the Iowa Wild.
The former fourth-round draft pick in 2017 will make his season debut tonight for the Iowa Wild hoping to pick right back up where he left off.
