Minnesota completed the reverse sweep to advance to the PWHL Finals.
The interesting rule that was established by the PWHL has backfired for Toronto. In the PWHL the team that finishes with the highest seed gets to pick their opponent for round one of the playoffs.
Toronto finished the regular season with the best record. They decided to pick Minnesota to face in the first round.
After the first two games the decision Toronto made to face Minnesota looked like it was a good one. They had a 2-0 series lead in a best of five series.
Minnesota made a change in goal after game one. Maddie Rooney, a Minnesota native, took over. She stopped all 18 shots in game three and all 19 shots she faced in game four to tie the series at 2-2.
Rooney, 26, stopped 27 out of the 28 shots she faced in game five and helped her team advance to the PWHL finals. She is 3-1-0 with a 0.45 goals-against average and has a .979 save percentage in the playoffs so far.
Minnesota will host game three at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on May 24th at 7:00 p.m and gave four on May 26th at 6:00 p.m. if necessary.
Former Wild forward Luke Kunin's wife is on the Minnesota's team along with 12 Minnesota natives.
