The Minnesota Wild have claimed defenseman Cameron Crotty off waivers from the Ottawa Senators.

Just a few days after losing defenseman Daemon Hunt on waivers to the Nashville Predators, the Minnesota Wild have claimed defenseman Cameron Crotty from the Ottawa Senators.

Crotty is a 27-year-old right-handed defenseman measuring 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds. He's played three NHL games this season, averaging 11:09 of ice time. In his NHL career, Crotty has played 11 games, one of which came with the Wild in 2024-25.

Crotty spent the majority of his lone season with the Wild in the AHL, where he captained the Iowa Wild. He dressed in 64 games and recorded 10 assists.

Prior to joining the Wild and then the Senators, Crotty was a third-round pick (82nd overall) by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2017 NHL draft. He played just one game with the Coyotes before leaving the organization as a Group-6 UFA.

In the 2025 off-season, Crotty signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Senators carrying an $812,500 AAV. He's now in the second year of his contract and will become a UFA on July 1.

While the Wild deal with injuries to Brock Faber and Jared Spurgeon, who is now on the injured reserve, Crotty will be an extra defenseman if the Wild elect to keep him up with the NHL club. The Wild recalled Carson Lambos as tonight’s extra defenseman, but because Lambos cleared waivers earlier this season, they can move him freely between the NHL and the AHL.
