Riley Heidt's strong start

Editor's Note: Brock Faber and Marco Rossi aren’t included due to their full-time NHL status. Top prospect Liam Ohgren, as well as Caedan Bankier, hasn’t played a game yet due to injury.

Iowa Wild in American Hockey League (AHL)

  • Jesper Wallstedt made 33 saves on 35 shots (.943 save percentage) in Iowa’s 4-2 win over the Manitoba Moose on Friday. Wallstedt, 20, backed up Zane McIntyre in Iowa’s 8-2 loss on Saturday. He has a .912 save percentage through his first two starts this season.
  • Adam Beckman scored a shorthanded goal and recorded an assist on Friday, but didn’t record a point Saturday. Beckman one-timed a pass from Jujhar Khaira on a 2-on-1 rush in the third period. The 22-year-old has two goals and four points through four games.
  • Daemon Hunt hasn’t recorded a point and is -3 with four shots through four games. The Wild recalled the 21-year-old on Monday ahead of tonight’s game.
  • Rookie Carson Lambos has two assists and is a -3 with six shots through four games. Lambos received one of those helpers when he got a secondary assist on Jake Lucchini’s empty net tally on Friday.
  • Ryan O’ Rourke has a goal and three points with five shots and a plus-minus rating of 0 through four games. O’ Rourke got a secondary assist on Beckman’s third-period shorthanded marker on Friday.
  • Rookie David Spacek has one point and two shots and is a -1 through four games, and it came on Friday when he got a secondary assist on Casey Dornbach’s even-strength goal in the second period.

NCAA

  • Jack Peart has one point, seven shots and is a -3 through six games. He had two shots and three minor penalties in St. Cloud State’s series against the Alaska Fairbanks this past weekend.
  • Charlie Stramel has 0 points, nine shots and two minor penalties through four games. He centered Cruz Lucius (Carolina draft pick) and Sam Tange (Detroit draft pick) on the third line before getting injured. As a result, Stramel didn’t play in Wisconsin’s series against Michigan Tech this past weekend.

Kontinental Hockey League (KHL)

  • Danila Yurov is off to a strong start this season with six goals and 13 points with a +5 rating in 20 games with Metallurg Magnitogorsk. He scored a goal and two points with five shots in three games last week.
  • Marat Khusnutdinov has one goal in 11 games this season between SKA St. Petersburg and HK Sochi. He was traded to HK Sochi two weeks ago and has one goal in five games. Khusnutdinov had 0 points and three shots in three games last week.

Ontario Hockey League (OHL)

  • Hunter Haight has five goals and 11 points through eight games with the Saginaw Spirit. He had one point in two games last week as he got a secondary assist on Saturday in the Spirit’s loss to the Windsor Spitfires. Haight has 19 shots and is 60.7 percent (74 of 122) in the faceoff dot this season.
  • Servac Petrovsky has two goals and seven points and 39 shots through 10 games. He had two points in three games last week with two assists in the Owen Sound Attack’s loss to the Kingston Frontenacs. He also has gone 48.5 percent so far in the circle.
  • Rasmus Kumpulainen has four goals and eight points and 27 shots through 10 games. He scored two goals in three games last week with the Oshawa Generals. He has won 51.9% percent (83 of 160) of his draws in the circle so far. Kumpulainen scored the lone goal in the Generals’ loss to the Brantford Bulldogs on Friday and then scored the 3-2 go-ahead goal on the power play Sunday, which helped Oshawa take down the Peterborough Petes.

Western Hockey League (WHL)

Prospect of the Week: Riley Heidt

Heidt is off to a strong start and leads Wild prospects with 20 points (seven goals and 13 assists) in 10 games so far this season, a strong start for the 18-year-old center with the Prince George Cougars in the WHL.

Heidt recorded seven points in two games this past weekend, including a four-assist, five-point night on Sunday. The Wild have to like what they’ve seen so far from their second-round pick this summer.
