After securing a top-15 spot and outclassing division rivals, Minnesota’s bench boss nears a contract extension following a season defined by elite defensive play and special teams.
In The Hockey News' latest rankings of NHL coaches, Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes ranked in the top 15.

Hynes led the Wild to the NHL’s seventh-best record the past season at 46-24-12. The Wild allowed the fourth-fewest goals a game in the NHL and had the third-best power play in the league.
The Wild's bench boss is heading into his final year of his contract and is expected to get an extension soon. As Wild general manager Bill Guerin said after the season, it seems like Hynes will be staying around for more seasons after this upcoming one.
Only Jared Bednar of the Colorado Avalanche ranked higher than Hynes in the Central Divison. Hynes is coming in at No. 11 for coaches.
