Former Wild player forward Charlie Coyle is currently on pace for a career year. Meanwhile, Mikael Granlund also is finding success in San Jose.

Charlie Coyle is one of many former Wild players who are having success on their new teams. Coyle was traded for Ryan Donato and a 2019 fourth-round pick on February 20th, 2019.

Coyle, 31, has fit in perfectly for the Bruins since the trade. The 6-foot-3 center scored 16 goals in three of his first four full seasons with the Bruins and is currently on pace for 28 goals, 42 assists, and 70 points in 82 games.

His previous career high in goals came during the 2015-2016 season with the Wild when he scored 21 goals and recorded 42 points in 82 games. He has yet to reach 20 or more goals since then.

But with 18 goals this season, Coyle is on pace to pass his previous career high. He is also on pace for 42 assists which would be a career high and 70 points which would shatter his previous career high of 56 points which he recorded during the 2016-2017 season.

The former Wild forward spent seven years in Minnesota and scored 91 goals across 479 games. He also recorded 151 assists and 242 points and was the centerpiece in a trade that sent Brent Burns to the San Jose Sharks back in 2011.

Now Coyle has developed into the Bruins first line center after Patrice Bergeron retired. Pretty big shoes to fill but Coyle has done well with more ice time.

Mikael Granlund is currently on pace for nine goals and 51 points for the San Jose Sharks but is only projected to finish the year by playing in 69 games. Granlund was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins by the Nashville Predators last season and in 21 games for the Penguins, he only notched one goal.

In 39 games for the Sharks, who are 14-33-5, the 5-foot-11 forward has five goals and 29 points and just yesterday wore an 'A' on his jersey as one of the Sharks alternate captains. The other was Luke Kunin, also a former Wild forward.

"We haven't talked about that. I certainly talked to him a lot. I include him in anything that we're doing when we talk to a leadership group," Sharks coach David Quinn told San Jose media about Granlund possibly getting named as an alternate captain in late January. "He may not have an A on his jersey, but we certainly treat him with that type of respect. [We] value his input to the players."

Granlund, 31, spent seven seasons with the Wild where he notched 93 goals, 224, and 317 career points in 461 games. He was traded to the Predators during the 2018-10 season for forward Kevin Fiala. Granlund spent five seasons in Nashville and recorded 51 goals and 162 points in 268 games.

If you continue down the trade tree, the Wild shipped out Granlund and got a return that included 215 games of Fiala, stud defenseman Brock Faber, and a 2022 first-round pick which has turned into Liam Ohgren.
