This Wild first-round pick has been ranked among the NHL's top prospects.

Minnesota Wild prospect Charlie Stramel has received some nice praise.

Stramel was among the players included in Scott Wheeler's top 100 NHL drafted prospect rankings for The Athletic. The 2023 first-round pick was given the No. 94 spot in Wheeler's rankings, and it makes sense when noting that he has good upside.

Stramel being named among the top 100 NHL drafted prospects comes after he had a strong senior year with Michigan State University. In 37 games with the school in 2025-26, he posted new collegiate career highs with 19 goals, 25 assists, and 44 points. This was after he had nine goals and 27 points in 37 games with the school during the 2024-25 season.

With this, Stramel undoubtedly took a nice step forward in his development last season with Michigan State University. The potential for him to emerge as an impactful NHL center in the future is there, and it will be intriguing to see what he can do in 2026-27 because of it.

Stramel signed his entry-level contract with the Wild back in April, so he is preparing for his first professional season in 2026-27. He will be looking to impress at training camp in hopes of making Minnesota's opening night roster. Whether he starts the year in Minnesota or in the AHL, it is clear that he is a promising prospect in the Wild's system.
