Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin told reporters on Monday that goaltender Filip Gustavsson is set to undergo hip surgery this offseason.
"Gustavsson is going to have off-season surgery on his hip that will be coming up as soon as possible," Guerin said to reporters, including The Hockey News' Dylan Loucks.
Per Loucks, Guerin also said he does not know yet if Gustavsson will be available for training camp.
Gustavsson appeared in 50 games this regular season with the Wild, posting a 28-15-4 record, a .903 save percentage, a 2.69 goals-against average, and four shutouts. This is after he had a 31-19-6 record, a .914 save percentage, and a 2.56 goals-against average in 58 games for the Wild last season.
While Gustavsson was the Wild's No. 1 goalie during the regular season, he mostly sat during the playoffs. The 6-foot-3 netminder made just one appearance for the Wild this postseason, where he allowed four goals on 22 shots in Minnesota's 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 2 of the second round.
Gustavsson will be entering the first season of his five-year, $34 million contract extension with the Wild in 2026-27.
In 192 games over four seasons with the Wild, Gustavsson has a 101-61-23 record, a .911 save percentage, a 2.61 goals-against average, and 15 shutouts.
