Wallstedt, 20, recorded 31 saves in the 1-0 shutout win over the Chicago Wolves last night. The Iowa Wild are now 2-3-0 to start the season and have won two of their last three games.
Zane McIntyre, the Wild's backup goalie, has started two games this year where he has allowed seven goals and eight goals. He is 0-2-0 with a 7.23 goals-against average and a .778 save percentage.
Both the Iowa Wild's wins have come when Wallstedt has started. On the year, the 6-foot-3 goaltender is 2-1-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.
The native of Sweden went 18-15-5 last year with only one shutout. He had a 2.68 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 38 games.
Last night, Wallstedt recorded his first shutout on 31 saves. Nick Swaney notched the only goal for the Iowa Wild in the win.
The Minnesota Wild play tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers to kick off a three-game road trip and they will do it without Jared Spurgeon, Freddy Gaudreau, Alex Goligoksi, and Matt Boldy.
