Vladislav Firstov was a 2019 second-round pick by the Wild who went on to play three seasons at the University of Connecticut.
Firstov, 22, put up 26 goals and 58 points in 82 career NCAA games for the Huskies before signing his entry-level contract with the Wild back in 2022.
But after only nine AHL games across parts of two seasons with little ice time, the Wild loaned Firstov to the KHL to play for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
In two seasons for Torpedo, Firstov notched 28 goals and 61 points in 114 career games. With their season coming to a close, Firstov and the Wild agreed to have him come back to the AHL and try it again.
The 6-foot-1 forward is a skilled offensive winger who likely needs more ice time than he was getting in the AHL, to show off his talent. The former second-round pick has some talent that could translate to the NHL but time will tell.
Hopefully, this time around in the AHL will be good for Firstov.
