Montreal Canadiens coach Martin St-Louis will be able to see much more of his family this season.
QMJHL outfit Sherbrooke Phoenix announced its official roster for this season, and there’s one name that will be familiar to Montreal Canadiens fans: Mason St-Louis. The 18-year-old winger is indeed Martin St-Louis’ son and plays at center. At 5-foot-10 and 146 pounds, the youngster is a bit taller than his dad, who’s 5-foot-8, but the Hall of Famer weighed in at 176 pounds back in his NHL days.
Of course, there’s plenty of time left for the youngster to bulk up and add some muscle to his frame, which would be a must if he wants to make it as a professional hockey player. Mason is the youngest son of the Habs’ coach, and back in March 2024, he had to leave the team because of complications from an injury that led to the centerman’s hospitalization.
Now that Mason has officially left the nest and will be playing in Sherbrooke this season, the coach’s wife, Heather Caragol, will be able to join him in Montreal for the season, as the coach said at the end of last season. Chances are the couple will be taking a few day trips to Sherbrooke to watch their younger son play.
The couple has two other sons; Ryan, the eldest, will play in the AHL this season with the Abbotsford Canucks, while Lucas, who’s 21, will play a second season with Harvard University. Mason will play with the Phoenix this season, but he has already committed to Dartmouth College in the NCAA and will arrive once he’s deemed ready.
With his wife and one son in the province, the Canadiens’ coach might have less time to watch Seinfeld this season, but it’s highly unlikely that he minds.
