Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael Hage is enjoying a hot start to his junior season with the Michigan Wolverines and is now part of a select cub.

Many wanted to see Michael Hage join the Montreal Canadiens after his sophomore season with the Michigan Wolverines last year, but the youngster decided to return for another year. Several factors explained his decision: he wanted to help Michigan win a national championship, become more of a leader, and, above all, be as ready as possible to perform in the NHL when he joined the Habs. Six games into the Wolverines’ season, the 20-year-old has reached a new milestone: his 100th point in the NCAA.

The Wolverines have been around a long time, playing their first season in 1922-23, so Hage is far from the only member of the Century Club, but it’s still quite an accomplishment. In 78 games with Michigan, Hage has scored 29 goals and picked up 71 assists. He’s the 94th Wolverine to reach the milestone and just the 24th in the 21st century.

Hage did it in a hard-fought contest against the national champions, the Denver Pioneers, adding two assists in the 4-3 win. Both came at even strength, and one was on the game-winning goal with less than five minutes to go. In six games so far this season, the centerman is second on the team in scoring with 14 points, just one point behind senior Jayden Perron.

The Wolverines are now 6-0, and it’s the first time in program history they've gotten off to such a strong start two years running. Clearly, Hage has been an integral part of that success. As things stand, Michigan towers over the competition in the Big 10, with the Wisconsin Badgers as their nearest pursuers.

It will be interesting to see how many points Hage can gather this season. He finished his first two campaigns with 34 and 52 points, and he’s well on his way to obliterating those totals. When Michigan’s postseason ends, the Canadiens will be more than happy to welcome Hage into the organization.
