There were question marks surrounding New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes' ability to compete in the 2024 NHL-All-Star festivities due to an upper-body injury sustained on Jan. 5.

On Tuesday, Hughes was officially ruled out from competing in the event but will still serve as co-captain for the All-Star Draft with his brother and Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.

With Jack no longer participating, Jesper Bratt will take his place.

The Devils’ forward leads the team with 50 points, boasting 19 goals and 31 assists.

Since Hughes’ injury, Bratt has five goals and two assists for seven points, in 10 games.

Hughes was also set to participate in Friday’s All-Star Skills Competition, but he will be replaced by New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal.

All-Star weekend will begin on Thursday night with the NHL All-Star Player Draft.
