New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier set a franchise record for the two fastest goals that a player earned at any point during a game.

The New Jersey Devils entered the second period down 3-1 to the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.
After the puck dropped, it took Nico Hischier 44 seconds to change that.
The captain scored his first goal of the night 34 seconds into the middle frame. Stefan Noesen fed the puck to Hischier, who was alone in front of opposing netminder Logan Thompson. Seconds later, the Swiss center was at it again and scored his second of the night.
"(The) first was a great forecheck by Noesen and those guys," Hischier said of his first goal. "He found me in the slot. The second goal was also created from the forecheck. I think that is something we can take from this: if we forecheck hard, teams are going to turn it over, and we can score goals."
His two goals were scored 10 seconds apart. According to Devils PR, they set a franchise record for the two fastest goals that a single player earned at any point in a game.
"It was unreal," Dougie Hamilton said of Hischier's performance. "He played unreal tonight. He pretty much carried us for the whole comeback."
"Captain-like, isn't it?," Keefe said during his presser. "It was impressive. It was unfortunate that we don't get rewarded more from that and we can't take off and not look back from there, that was the disappointing part."
Hischier's efforts evened the score, 3-3. The Devils fell behind again before tying it and forcing overtime, where they lost to the Capitals, 6-5.
