Over his first three games with the Devils, Jake Allen has a .946 save percentage and 2.01 goals against average.
New Jersey Devils interim head coach Travis Green confirmed Jake Allen would get the nod against the red-hot Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. It marks the veteran goaltender's third consecutive start.
"Probably our toughest test, I think, in the last week is going to be the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday," Allen said to MSGN host Erika Wachter after his 36-save performance against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He's not wrong, as the Jets have scored no less than four goals over their last three games and allowed no more than two.
The good news for New Jersey is that Allen has been excellent since making his Devils debut. He owns a .946 save percentage in his first three games with the team, which is the fourth-highest save percentage of any goalie through their first three appearances with the Devils franchise (at any point in their career).
"He's been doing unbelievable for us back there. Every game, he's been in the net," Dawson Mercer said of Allen. "We feel really confident with him, and he's really proven why he is a great goalie in this league. He's made a lot of great stops for us."
Allen's 105 saves since joining the Devils are the most for any goaltender after their first three appearances with the franchise.
The veteran netminder will look to lead his team to their second straight victory when the puck drops at 7:00 P.M. at Prudential Center.
