Former New Jersey Devils goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood joins Scott Wedgewood in Colorado.

MacKenzie Blackwood can't seem to rid himself of his former New Jersey Devils teammates.

Starting the 2024-25 season on the San Jose Sharks goaltending alongside Vitek Vanecek, the 28-year-old was traded on Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-4 goaltender has reunited with Scott Wedgewood in Mile High City with the Colorado Avalanche.

The official trade details are as follows: The Avalanche acquired goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood, forward Givani Smith, and a fifth-round draft pick in the 2027 NHL Draft from the Sharks in exchange for goaltender Alexandar Georgiev, forward Nikolai Kovalenko, a 2025 fifth-round draft pick and a 2026 second-round pick.

The Avalanche acquired Wedgewood in a trade with the Nashville Predators on Nov. 30, 2024. Since then, he has appeared in three games for the Avalanche.
