The New Jersey Devils have acquired prospect Shane LaChance from the Edmonton Oilers in a three-team trade involving the Boston Bruins.
The Devils first dealt the signing rights of Petr Hauser to the Bruins for Trent Frederic, and Boston retained $1.15 million of the 2016 first-round pick's salary. Then, the Devils flipped Frederic, with $575,000 salary retained, to the Oilers for LaChance.
By retaining a portion of Frederic's salary, the Devils have now added a new prospect to their system in LaChance. The 21-year-old forward is currently the captain of Boston University in his sophomore season. In 32 games this season with BU, he has 10 goals and 25 points. This was after the 6-foot-5 winger had 13 goals and 27 points in 40 games with BU last campaign.
LaChance was selected by the Oilers with the 186th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
