This is certainly less than ideal news for the Devils.
The New Jersey Devils have announced that captain Nico Hischier won't be in the lineup against the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 27.
Hischier, 26, left the club's Jan. 25 contest against the Montreal Canadiens injured after receiving a cross-check from Nick Suzuki. Now, Hischier is set to miss this contest against the Flyers at least following this update.
The Devils will undoubtedly miss Hischier against the Flyers, as he is one of their top players. In 51 games this season, the 2017 first-overall pick has 24 goals, 43 points, and a plus-11 rating. He also has been heating up as of late, posting two goals and four points in his last two games.
