    WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ahead of the New Jersey Devils game versus the Washington Capitals on Wednesday evening, the club announced that Ondrej Palat would be out with a lower-body injury. 

    Head coach Lindy Ruff provided the following update after New Jersey's 6-3 victory over their opponent. 

    "He's being evaluated but likely unavailable for the next few games."

    Palat left the team's Tuesday practice after their first shooting drill. He joins the team's injury list that includes Timo Meier (mid-body), Dougie Hamilton (out indefinitely), Tomas Nosek (out indefinitely), and Nolan Foote (upper body). 

    The Devils are scheduled for their ninth back-to-back set this weekend, hosting the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday and the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. After that, the team will have a four-day break until they travel south to play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Jan. 11. 

    Palat has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) this season for New Jersey.
