Meier was injured in the team's 6-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

PITTSBURGH, P.A.-- The New Jersey Devils will be without one of their top offensive players for the short term.

After the team's morning skate at PPG Paints Arena, head coach Lindy Ruff shared that Timo Meier would be a game-time decision versus the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In their prior game versus the Winnipeg Jets, Meier fell awkwardly by the boards. He slowly skated to the bench but remained in the game, playing over 19 minutes and scoring one goal.

The 27-year-old did not take warmups against the Penguins, and after the game, Ruff shared a further update.

"When we get back to New Jersey, we'll get a better update," Ruff said. "We know he's going to be out short-term, and we'll find out how long that'll be."

Meier has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 14 games. Before his injury, he was on a three-game goal streak and was one of the players who stepped up in the absence of Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes, who are sidelined with their own upper-body injuries.

The Devils' next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, when they host the New York Rangers.
