The New Jersey Devils should be looking to improve their forward group this off-season after their quick playoff exit. Adding a top-six winger would be huge for them, and they certainly have some interesting options to consider.

When looking at players floating around the trade market, one player who would be a strong addition to their group is Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment.

Marchment has been discussed often in the rumor mill this off-season due to the Stars' limited cap space and multiple pending free agents. After recently re-signing Matt Duchene to a four-year, $18 million contract on June 19, Dallas now has just over $455,000 of cap space left. Thus, a player like Marchment, who sports a $4.5 million cap hit until the end of next season, is standing out as a prime trade candidate.

Marchment is exactly the kind of forward the Devils should be targeting as they look to cement themselves as true contenders. This is because the 6-foot-5 winger offers a nice mixture of solid offensive production and grit.

Marchment, 30, had 22 goals, 47 points, 79 hits, and a plus-15 rating in 62 games this season with the Stars. This was after he scored 22 goals and set career highs with 31 assists and 53 points in 81 games with the Stars in 2023-24. With numbers like these, he would undoubtedly give the Devils' second line and power play a boost if acquired.

Overall, with the Stars being in a very hard spot financially, the Devils should look to take advantage of that and acquire Marchment. On paper, it looks like they could be a good match.
