Jake Allen is the New Jersey Devils' top pending unrestricted free agent as we rapidly approach July 1. Given how well he played this season as the Devils' backup goalie, they should be working hard to keep him around.

However, if the Devils and Allen are unable to come to terms on a new contract and he hits the market, there will plenty of interest in him. This is because he is the top pending UFA goalie in this year's free agency class.

Now, three potential suitors for Allen have been named, as The Fourth Period has reported that the Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, and San Jose Sharks are reportedly linked to the Devils goaltender.

The Flyers certainly could use some help between the pipes, so it would be understandable if they made a push for Allen. He would be an upgrade over current goalies Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov if signed.

Allen could be a good fit on the Oilers if signed, as he would have the potential to form a solid tandem with Stuart Skinner. The Oilers would benefit by adding more reliability at the goalie position, and Allen wouild give them that.

As for the Sharks, Allen would provide them with a good veteran mentor for young netminder Yaroslav Askarov. With the Sharks expected to move on from Alexandar Georgiev, they will need to add a goalie.
