During this past offseason, former New Jersey Devils forward A.J. Greer signed a two-year, $1.7 million contract with the Florida Panthers. This was after the former Devil appeared in 59 games this past season with the Calgary Flames, posting 12 points.

While the Panthers bringing in Greer was more of an under-the-radar signing, he has undoubtedly been a solid depth forward for Florida. In fact, he is in the middle of having the best season of his eight-year NHL career right now.

As expected, the hard-nosed Greer has provided the Panthers with plenty of physicality. In 66 games, he has a career-high 179 hits and leads the Panthers with 96 penalty minutes. However, besides making an impact with his grit, Greer has given the Panthers some decent offense in a bottom-six role.

Greer, 28, has notably set new career-highs with 11 assists and 17 points this season. He has also scored six goals this campaign, tying his current career-high. When noting that the Panthers have 16 games left this season, he has a decent shot of setting this new career-high as well.

Overall, Greer has been a nice piece for the Panthers this season. When noting that he only carries a $850,000 cap hit, he has been a solid bargain signing for Florida.

In 10 games over two seasons with the Devils from 2020-21 to 2021-22, Greer had one goal, one assist, nine penalty minutes, and 20 hits.
