
Kurtis MacDermid signs a three-year contract to remain with the New Jersey Devils.

NEWARK, N.J. -- On Friday morning, the New Jersey Devils announced Kurtis MacDermid was re-signed to a three-year contract worth $3,450,000. Per the official press release, the contract breakdown is as follows: 2024-25: $1,250,000; 2025-26: $1,200,000; 2026-27: $1,000,000.
President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald made the announcement.
The 30-year-old was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche via a trade on March 1 in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (previously acquired from Nashville) and forward Zakhar Bardakov.
MacDermid appeared in 16 games for the Devils, collecting one assist, 50 penalty minutes, and four fighting majors.
Since arriving in New Jersey, MacDermid's teammates have publicly discussed his influence in the locker room and on the ice.
"For sure, in the game, he gives that presence of don't mess around and don't do anything stupid because he is there," Dawson Mercer said to The Hockey News.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound forward began his NHL career with the Los Angeles Kings when he signed as an undrafted free agent. He was claimed by the Seattle Kraken from the Kings during the Expansion Draft on July 21, 2021. A week later, Seattle traded him to Colorado.
