NEWARK, N.J. -- On Feb. 26, the New Jersey Devils assigned Nolan Foote to the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL) for a conditioning stint. Exactly two weeks later, the organization activated Foote off the non-roster, injured reserve.
After completing his stint with the Comets, Foote participated in his first Devils practice. Over his last two games with Utica, he collected four points (three goals, one assist).

"It was good to see him. He's been out a long time," interim head coach Travis Green said. "You know, it's been a tough year for him rehabbing and getting back. He played last night. I thought he looked decent today. We'll take it day-to-day with him."
It appeared things were moving in the right direction for the 23-year-old, who has been sidelined the entire season with an undisclosed injury.
After Tuesday's morning skate, Green was asked if there was a reason Foote has not cracked the lineup since being activated.
"Yeah, he got hurt. He was not on the (Western Conference) road trip with us," he said. "He is still not skating."
With 14 games remaining in the 2023-24 regular season, it is unclear at this time whether Foote will play or remain sidelined with his undisclosed injury.
The Devils will start a three-game homestand this week. On Tuesday night, they host the Pittsburgh Penguins and then play the Winnipeg Jets (Thursday) and Ottawa Senators (Saturday).
