Melovsky, 20, was selected by the New Jersey Devils with the 171st overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. This was after the 6-foot-1 center posted 18 goals, 60 points, and a plus-42 rating in 53 games with Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL in 2023-24.
As great as Melovsky's 2023-24 season was with Baie-Comeau, he was an even stronger force for the QMJHL squad in 2024-25. In 57 contests during this campaign, he set new QMJHL career highs with 26 goals, 57 assists, and 83 points. With numbers like these, he certainly should provide Devils fans with some optimism about his future.
The Comets need more offense if they hope to be a more significant threat in the AHL next season, and signing a player like Melovsky should help things on that front. The Devils prospect has shown promise at the junior level, and it will be fascinating to see what he can do with the Comets next season from here.
