Five New Jersey Devils players were dressed during Day 9 of the 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship.
Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler along with Switzerland continued their impressive tournament with an 8-0 win over Denmark. Hischier scored a goal and added two assists, bringing him to second in both goals and points for all players at the World Championship.
Canada and Dawson Mercer picked up a crucial win over Finland 5-3. Mercer iced the game with an empty net goal in his return to the lineup. It's Mercer's second goal of the tournament, both into an empty net.
Simon Nemec added an assist in Slovakia's 4-2 win over France. He is now up to one goal and six points in five games. He's been playing big minutes for Slovakia and has delivered for them.
Ondrej Palat fired four shots during Czechia's 4-1 win over Great Britain but wasn't able to produce any points. The host nation is now 4-1-1-0 and leads Group A with 15 points. After an NHL season where he struggled, his play at the World Championship is encouraging for the 2024-25 season.
Each team has played five or six games and the standings are starting to shape up. Czechia, Switzerland and Canada have large leads over the rest of the group while Group B is a bit closer. Team USA sits in fourth place with 10 points and they are five points back of Sweden for first and just three points up on Latvia for fifth.
