New York dodged a major bullet after a dangerous head hit sidelined their leading scorer. The captain returns to anchor the lineup for a critical Eastern Conference clash.
The New York Islanders and their fans have been holding their breath on the status of captain and star forward Bo Horvat. But they can breathe a sigh of relief, as he'll play on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Horvat entered concussion protocol after an illegal hit to the head late in Thursday's win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
The NHL suspended Frank Nazar, who threw the hit, for two games on Friday night for an illegal check.
However, the Islanders continued to evaluate Horvat since Thursday, and he skated with the team on Saturday morning as a full participant.
Horvat leads the team in goals (4) and points (5) through the team's first four games of the season.
The Islanders remain without Mathew Barzal, who has resumed skating on his own.
