It was another losing week for the Bridgeport Islanders, who dropped two of three this past weekend, moving to 6-11-1-0.

The week started with a 4-2 loss against the Springfield Thunderbirds on Wednesday before falling to the Providence Bruins 2-1 on Saturday night.

Otto Koivula and Jeff Kubiak both scored goals against Springfield and added assists against Belleville. Karson Kuhlman scored the lone goal against Providence, his former team.

Jakub Skarek was in goal for both losses, making 29 saves on 33 shots Wednesday before stopping 30 of 32 shots Saturday. Skarek holds a 3-8-1-0 record on the season.

Because of the injuries to the NHL squad, defenseman Grant Hutton was recalled and played against the Philadelphia Flyers in a 1-0 shootout loss on Saturday night.

Hutton played a solid 10:11 minutes of responsible hockey before being returned to Bridgeport Sunday evening.

On Sunday afternoon, the Islanders traded prospect Arnaud Duranadeau to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Long Island native Tyce Thompson

NHL.com’s Mike Morreale shared why he believed the deal made sense for both sides when he joined Hockey Night in New York on Sunday night:

Bridgeport won their Sunday afternoon showdown with a 4-2 win over the Belleville Senators.

Kyle Maclean scored two goals, with his second turning into the game-winning tally.

Ruslan Iskhakov had a two-point night with a goal and an assist following back-to-back scoreless games.

He still leads the team in goals (six), assists (nine), and points (15) in 18 games.

Matt Maggio found the scoresheet for the first time in six games with the primary assist on MacLean’s second goal giving him six points (three goals, three assists) in 17 games.

Denis Cholowski moved to second on the team in points (one goal, 10 assists) with assists in Wednesday’s loss and Sunday’s win.

Ken Appleby improved to 3-3-0 after making 25 saves on 27 shots.

Travis Mitchell scored his first professional goal on Sunday. It was also his first career multi-point game as he added an assist, as well.

Bridgeport begins its December schedule with a home-and-home with the Providence Bruins. Friday night at 7:05 pm on the road and then back at Total Mortgage Arena on Saturday at 7 pm.

You can listen to Rosner talk Islanders hockey on Hockey Night in New York with co-host Sean Cuthbert on Sunday nights at 8 PM ET during the season.]
