The New York Rangers entered Saturday afternoon’s game on a high after trading for J.T. Miller less than 24 hours before, but were quickly humbled as they lost 6-3 to the Boston Bruins in demoralizing fashion.

On Friday night, the Rangers acquired Miller from the Vancouver Canucks as he arrived at the team hotel in Boston at around 4 A.M. to play in this game.

Despite the loss, Miller put on a show.

The 31-year-old forward ended the contest with two goals while generating a ton of high-quality scoring chances from the moment he stepped on the ice.

Miller played the majority of the afternoon centering a line alongside Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad. He recorded a total of 18:48 minutes.

Unfortunately for Miller, his first game back with the Rangers didn’t go as well from a team standpoint.

From the puck drop to the final horn, the Bruins dominated and it seemed there was nothing the Blueshirts could do about it.

Throughout the entirety of the afternoon, the Rangers played without a sense of aggression and passion as it cost them in a major way.

In the second period, the Rangers failed to record a shot for almost the entirety of the 20 minutes. Two goals from Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha in the middle frame essentially took the Rangers out of rhythm.

The Blueshirts have now lost three games in a row and continue to slide down the Eastern Conference standings.

With the playoff race so tight, this sort of performance against a team like the Bruins is just unacceptable.

New York finds themselves six points out of the second wild card spot.

There’s not much time left and the Rangers need to turn things around quickly before the season gets out of hand.

The Rangers will be back in action on Sunday night against the Vegas Golden Knights.
