Backed by a two-point night from Artemi Panarin and strong goaltending from Igor Shesterkin, the New York Rangers defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Thursday night.

Madison Square Garden, NY- Backed by a two-point night from Artemi Panarin and strong goaltending from Igor Shesterkin, the New York Rangers defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Thursday night.

    Here’s how it happened:

Artemi Panarin wired home his 24th goal of the season on a one-timer, the cross-ice feed Lafreniere feed. Bedard was checked by Trocheck in the Rangers' defensive end to make the play happen.

Brennan Othmann finished the first period with three shots on goal, looking comfortable at the start of his NHL debut.

Chris Kreider scored what looked to be a kick-in power-play goal at the 7:23 mark of the second frame. After a review, the goal stood, and the Rangers took a 2-0 lead on the play. Kreider is 15-man advantage goals away from becoming the all-time leader in Rangers history.

Former Ranger Colin Blackwell put on a nice pump fake to get the Blackhawks on the board. It was his first goal of the season and cut the lead for Chicago.

Trouba scored 1:31 into the third period to put the Rangers up 3-1, and Jimmy Vesey finished off a nice play by Will Cuylle one minute later to extend the lead.

Blake Wheeler fought Jarred Tinordi, and both received fighting majors.

The Rangers held Connor Bedard off of the scoresheet, and Brennan Othmann recorded five shots on goal,  the second most by a Ranger in their debut.

The Rangers are now 10-1-0 following a loss.
