Here's more on the history of Madison Square Garden.

You learn something new every day.

At least I do and especially since I once thought I knew everything about Madison Square Garden.

What I did know was that the first MSG – in the 19th century – started out as a railway station and the second one, across from Madison Square Park, was a gaudy structure with a nightclub on the roof.

The third Garden – the one in which I grew – opened in 1925 on Eighth Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets. It remained in business until 1968 when the present MSG made its debut.

But here's what I did not know – and thanks to author-historian George Grimm for telling me – is this: The so-called "New Garden," actually is older than the "Old Garden."

MSG III – the so-called "Old" one – lived 43 years and then was razed. The new – now old – one is 56 years old and still counting.

Thank you pal Grimm and I hope your book about the Frank Boucher Era of the Blueshirts – "Undermanned But Undaunted" – is doing well .

Your MSG I.Q. is doing very well!
