Barclay Goodrow is set to return back to Madison Square Garden on Thursday night for the first time since everything went down between him and the New York Rangers.
The New York Rangers waived Goodrow at the beginning of the offseason as he was almost immediately claimed by the San Jose Sharks.
According to The New York Posts’ Larry Brooks, Goodrow was not happy about how this whole situation unfolded. Brooks reported there is a belief that Goodrow included the Sharks on his 15-team, no-trade list.
With Goodrow set to play the Rangers as an opponent, he opened up about what really transpired this summer while committing to his new chapter with the Sharks.
“It was just a surprise,” Goodrow said via The New York Post’s Mollie Walker. “I was never given any inclination or whatever that I wouldn’t be back with the team and that happened. That was a while ago, I’ve tried to move past it. We’re here and excited to be with San Jose.”
Despite all of the rumors pointing towards Goodrow’s displeasure about going to San Jose, he seems bought into what the Sharks are building.
Through 17 games, the 31-year-old forward has recorded two goals and two points while averaging 14:52 minutes per game.
