Right before coming to Stockholm Sweden to play for Team Finland at the World Championship, Juuso Pärssinen signed a two-year contract extension with the New York Rangers.
The Rangers traded for Pärssinen from the Colorado Avalanche at around the time of the NHL Trade Deadline in a deal that included Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey.
Juuso Parssinen Signs Two-Year Contract Extension With Rangers
The New York Rangers have agreed on a two-year contract extension with forward Juuso Parssinen.
It was a difficult season for Pärssinen who was traded twice during the 2024-25 campaign, first from the Nashville Predators to the Avalanche and then from the Avalanche to the Rangers.
Now though, the 24-year-old forward gets some much-needed stability with his new contract extension.
Why did Pärssinen sign a contract extension before even testing the open market to assess his value?
It was important for Pärssinen to get a deal done quickly, to take it off of his mind and it was his intention to remain with the Rangers.
“It feels good,” Pärssinen said about signing his contract extension. “I’m really happy about staying there, especially for two years. Coming to the tournament, in a way it’s relief to get it done before, not so much to think about. It’s huge to get it done. Really, really happy and excited.”
Being in New York, Pärssinen feels at home, which weighed heavily in his decision to re-sign with the Blueshirts.
It’s also worth noting that Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury was interested in acquiring Parssinen for months due to the fact that he really believed in his potential and upside.
Pärssinen also strongly believes that the Rangers are the gold standard in terms of the top organizations in the NHL and just feels like he was treated in the right way by the team.
“I think us players, they take good care of us,” Pärssinen emphasized. “They have a great practice facility, everything food-wise, it’s really nice here. New York is a special place. It’s a special place for me to play, that’s at least how I feel.”
In 48 games with the Rangers, Pärssinen recorded two goals, three assists, and five points while averaging 9:46 minutes.
