While Jacob Trouba will likely be with the Rangers for the 2024-25 season, his long-term future in New York is still uncertain.

What should Jacob Trouba be thinking right now with all of this uncertainty about his future in New York?

The Rangers were reportedly attempting to trade Trouba early on in the offseason, but Arthur Staple of The Athletic reported that the Rangers are expected to hold onto Jacob Trouba this summer.

However, Staple also reported that a split between the captain and the Rangers organization is "nearly certain" following this upcoming season.

How can a captain effectively lead his team given the knowledge that he will probably be traded or even bought out within a year's span?

This is not a great situation for the Rangers to be in.

Trouba is not just any ordinary player, he is the captain and holds a lot of responsibility to keep this team together and united.

It will certainly be difficult for Trouba to be the best leader he possibly can and the relationship between him and the Rangers organization may not be the same.

According to Larry Brooks of The New York Post, there were apparently “hurt feelings” on the part of Trouba due to the way this whole situation was handled.

It’s all part of the business, but Trouba has a right to have hurt feelings because he’s given a lot to this organization since 2019.

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Trouba and the Rangers as they put their differences aside in pursuit of the Stanley Cup.
