There is an update regarding Jimmy Vesey's health and it's not good news for the Rangers.

There is more bad news for the New York Rangers on the injury front.

Rangers coach Peter Laviolette confirmed that Jimmy Vesey will be out for a few weeks with a lower-body injury.

Vesey suffered this injury during practice on Sunday as he was laboring on the ice for a few seconds before limping his way into the locker room in clear pain.

It’s unclear exactly how Vesey got hurt, but it seemed serious by the way he reacted immediately after it occurred.

With Vesey likely not to be ready by the start of the regular season on Oct. 9, there is an opening for a couple forwards to earn a spot in the lineup.

“That’s what training camp is about,” Laviolette said. “It’s an opportunity for guys to step up. I do think some guys have had big camps. That’s the evaluation process. We still have three games left, so those evaluations are still taking place.”

This past year the 31-year-old recorded 13 goals, 13 assists and 26 points in 80 games while averaging 12:23 minutes.

Now both Vesey and Ryan Lindgren are week-to-week as the injury bug continues to haunt the Rangers before the season even begins.
