Jimmy Vesey is back practicing with the Rangers as he recovers from a lower-body unjury.

Jimmy Vesey was back on the ice at the New York Rangers’ practice in a green non-contact jersey on Thursday as he inches towards a return to the lineup.

Vesey suffered a lower-body injury during training camp and was put on long-term injured reserve.

During a practice in training camp, Vesey went down and was laboring in pain on the ice as he quickly limped his way back into the locker room.

While Peter Laviolette didn’t put any sort of timetable for his return, he was happy to see the veteran forward back on the ice.

“It’s just part of the progression,” Laviolette said about Vesey. “The next step in his long road back, so it was good to have him out there. He looked good.”

Through his absence, the fourth line has mostly consisted of Sam Carrick, Adam Edström, and Jonny Brodzinski, with Matt Rempe also playing a couple of games.

Last season, the 31-year-old recorded 13 goals, 13 assists and 26 points in 80 games while averaging 12:23 minutes.
