The possibility of trading Kaapo Kakko is reportedly still on the table for the Rangers.
Kaapo Kakko is a player to watch out for who could possibly be traded by the New York Rangers.
Sources reportedly tell TSN’s Darren Dreger that Kaapo Kakko's name has resurfaced in trade talks.
This comes after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the Rangers have made it very clear they are interested in making moves and shaking up their roster with Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba specifically being indicated, although other options will be considered.
Despite rumors swirling that the Rangers would trade Kakko over the offseason, he ultimately signed a one-year, $2.4 million contract extension to remain in New York.
Through the start of the regular season, Kakko has shown some improvements and has played at both center and the wing as he’s been transforming into a multidimensional forward.
The 23-year-old has recorded three goals, nine assists and 12 points in 21 games while averaging 13:14 minutes per game.
