It took just a few seconds for Matt Rempe to get into a fight in his first game back with the Rangers since being recalled from the AHL.

Matt Rempe is back better than ever.

Rempe got into a fight against Dylan McIlrath in his first shift back after getting recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

The 22-year-old was sent down to the AHL last week, but was quickly brought back up specifically for the New York Rangers’ Tuesday night matchup against the Washington Capitals.

Seconds into his first shift, Rempe dropped the gloves with McIlrath as the two fought for over 30 seconds before Rempe went tumbling to the ice.

It’s unclear what instigated the incident with the fight seeming almost pre-planned.

Rempe played in just two AHL games during his short stint with the Wolf Pack. His spat with McIlrath marked Rempe’s first fight of the season.
