The 30-year-old Minnesotan got himself a two-year contract extension from his boss, Chris Drury.

All things considered, the New York Rangers press release about Jonny Brodzinski was so small The Maven was searching for my electron microscope to read it.

For many without such a device in Rangerville, the-feel-good-story-of-the-week could have gone unnoticed. The 30-year-old Minnesotan got himself a two-year contract extension from his boss, Chris Drury.

Good stuff, but you at least could have attached a quote along with your $well deed. But, I know you're a busy guy, Chris, so I'll do it for you:

"The Rangers are delighted to reward Jonny for his perseverance, grim determination and loyalty to the organization. He's the perfect role model for the "Never Give Up Association of Affiliated Rangers Fans…"

I'm tickled pink that Sir Drury recognized a player who skates with the same gung-ho-team-first attitude that Chris, himself, featured during his long and successful NHL career.

But Jonny-The-Puck-Goes-Insky offers other features that absolutely no Rangers current or dating back to 1926 ever had.

Brodzinski is from Ham Lake, Minnesota. Not Bill Cook. Not Phil Watson, Not Gump Worsley, Not Rod Gilbert. Not even Jaromir Jagr could make that statement. Only our Brodzy.

I did some research and discovered that while you can get ham in Ham Lake, the city (Yeah, it's an official city) is famed for its potatoes.

But back to the ice. When all is said and done, Brodzy is being rewarded for being a solid fourth-liner. Over 37 games he's got four goals and 11 assists which may not look like much.

Given ice time, he can produce. He's 2-4-6 in his last six games and Plus-4 on the season.

Yay, Brodzy; you have made Ham Lake proud.

The Maven, too!
