In exchange for K’Andre Miller, the New York Rangers have reportedly acquired defenseman Scott Morrow, a conditional 2026 first-round pick, and a 2026 second-round pick.
This is all a part of a sign-and-trade with Miller agreeing to an eight-year, $60 million contract with the Hurricanes.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Hurricanes looked at an offer sheet for Miller, and the two teams worked out a sign-and-trade instead.
Morrow was selected by the Hurricanes in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
The 22-year-old spent three years playing at UMass Amherst before making the jump to professional hockey.
While he played 14 games for the Hurricanes this past season, Morrow spent most of his time in the American Hockey League with the Chicago Wolves, where he recorded 13 goals, 26 assists, and 39 points in 52 games.

The Rangers will get the better of Carolina/Dallas’ first-rounder next year which is top-10 protected.
If neither of the first-round picks are in the top 10, the Rangers will receive the better pick, if one of them is in the top 10, the Rangers will receive the other selection, and if both picks are in the top 10, the Blueshirts will receive the better of Carolina’s two 2027 first-round picks.
