Despite all of the rumors, the Rangers are expected to hold onto Jacob Trouba this summer.

It looks as if the New York Rangers saga with Jacob Trouba may be coming to an end for now.

According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the Rangers are expected to hold onto Jacob Trouba this summer.

This report comes out after weeks of speculation on whether or not the Rangers would trade or even buyout Trouba.

While Trouba will likely be in New York for the 2024-25 campaign, Staple wrote that a split between the captain and the Rangers organization is "nearly certain" as the team faces major cap related concerns.

On top of the players that are already under contract, the Rangers still need to sign Igor Shesterkin, Alexis Lafrenière and K’Andre Miller to contract extensions over the next year, so they will have to make some difficult financial decisions.

Trouba carries an $8 million cap hit, which will be difficult for New York to retain until he becomes a free agent at the end of the 2025-26 season.

All of the drama between Trouba and the Rangers might be done for now, but it’s that that will be lingering for a long time.
