    Cam York is sticking around.

The 24-year-old defenseman signed a new five-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, the team announced Monday, locking him in with a $5.15 million AAV.

It’s a clear vote of confidence from a front office that continues to shape its next generation—and views York as a cornerstone of that effort.

"I'm extremely happy to call Philly my home and I'm proud to be a Flyer," York said. "It is a true privilege to wear the Flyers crest and I will give everything I have to my teammates and this city to help us win."

York’s path hasn’t been without bumps. He battled through a shoulder injury last season and had his share of inconsistent stretches. But through it all, the poise, vision, and skating ability that made him a first-round pick in 2019 continued to shine. He’s developed into one of the Flyers’ most reliable defensemen, logging heavy minutes and shouldering responsibilities well beyond his years.

And now, the Flyers are betting on his best being yet to come.

Although he missed some time due to injury and was embroiled in the tension leading up to former head coach John Tortorella's departure, York still showed plenty of signs of maturing into the blueliner the Flyers believe he can be. His reads are sharp, his gap control has improved, and while his game isn’t always in your face, it’s efficient—built around clean zone exits, smart puck movement, and a growing ability to dictate tempo.

"We are very happy to have Cam under contract for the next five years and be a main piece on our blueline," General Manager Danny Briere said. "Cam has been a workhorse for our team over the last few seasons. We're excited by his development and look forward to his continued growth and emergence as a young leader within our group."

This extension not only rewards York’s progress, but it also gives the Flyers long-term stability on their blue line at a cap-friendly number. In a league where mobile, intelligent defensemen are at a premium, getting one like York signed through his prime years is an incredibly smart move.

"I believe in this team and I love the direction we are heading," York continued. "I couldn't be more excited to continue this journey and build something special together."

As the organization leans into its youth movement, York is emerging as one of its most dependable voices—calm, competitive, and composed. And make no mistake: Cam York is central to what the Flyers are building.

And now, he’s here to stay.
