James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports - Ersson Named to Rookie All-Star Team

Sam Ersson has been a standout in net for the Flyers recently, and received a huge honor on Jan. 29 to show for his efforts.

The 24-year-old was named to the NHL's official All-Rookie All-Star team, leading all rookie goalies (with a minimum of 15 starts) in wins (12-9-3) and shutouts (three) and second in goals-against average (2.60), shots faced (597), and saves (536).

Ersson has assumed the No. 1 goalie position after it was announced that Carter Hart would be taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons. The Swedish goalie stands 0-3-0 since Hart officially took his leave, but the entire Flyers organization has put their full backing behind him.

Per the NHL, Ersson has said, "I just do my thing. It's very important to stay in the moment and be present. I know I started the year, so I know how it feels when things are not going great, so I just stay in the moment and take it game by game. Like I said all year, I'm ready when they call upon mu name to go in and play, and that's all I can think about."
