The latest development in the ongoing sexual assault case against five members of Canada's 2018 World Junior Championship team.

The five former members of Canada's 2018 World Junior Championship that have been charged with sexual assault of a woman in a hotel room have chosen to proceed with a jury trial, Robyn Doolittle reported on Feb. 28.
After appearing in court on Tuesday, the five men—Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton, and Cal Foote, who are being tried as a group—requested and were granted a jury trial. They have all adamantly denied the allegations.
"Earlier this week, all five players selected a trial by jury and they are confident that jurors drawn from the community will decide this case fairly and impartially after hearing all the evidence and testimony," said a joint statement issued by the lawyers representing the players.
It is expected to be several months until a trial date is scheduled. Until then, all five accused players have taken leaves of absences from their former teams and have been moved to non-roster positions.
